Does 'minimizing' mean zero decorations?

Not at all! The concepts of 'minimizing' and 'decluttering' are nothing new in the organizing and decorating worlds - but it doesn't mean you have to get rid of every decoration in your house.
However, many of us do find ourselves overwhelmed by 'stuff'. Finding a few areas in your home to minimize clutter can make your space feel lighter - and it is also easier to clean.
In most cases, excessive decorations have accumulated over time and weren't even the original intent of the homeowner. In the 'before' photo below, a bathroom shelving area had grown to be quite cluttered. The decorative rocks were also an impediment to cleaning and were gathering dust. Maintaining the area started to cause the homeowner more stress than joy.
The 'after' pictures show a more streamlined space, providing a light and useful area that is easier to keep dust-free.
If you're feeling crowded by clutter, hopefully this post has inspired you to pick at least one area in your home to freshen up. We would love to see your before and after picture in the comments.
